Ughh, same here. Actual media romance always makes me roll my eyes, no matter what the sexual orientation of the couple. Give me tension and subtext any day!

Yeah, I know! It's like whether the actors have chemistry or not, they're, "Hey, let's DO IT! I LUV U TRULLLEEE but we fight all the time and break up a lot too!!!" With subtext, it's all about chemistry and there's no faking that IMO

Yeah, I like subtext more also. In the event that the ship sucks I can ignore it, and then you don't have bullshit soap opera-esque off and on bullshit. Very few TV romances are actually well done.
