On the one hand, I kind of agree. An alternate timeline is the easiest explanation and makes the most sense given they already exist in Star Trek. On the other hand, I really loved the three Khan books (these two and the one about his exile). They were really well written and interesting. So I'm kind of okay with their explanation as well.

I liked the first book but the second just felt so anticlimactic. :\

I can see that. I still enjoyed it. I really liked the third one, though. It made Marla into a complicated character, I felt, and made me actually sympathetic towards Khan.
