I think writing is the cheapest hobby.

It was a shock for me to go from writing to picking up other hobbies like knitting and realizing that I need to pay to do it.

That was my thought, too! Writing has got to be the cheapest hobby of mine that makes me the happiest by far.

Knitting/crocheting can be cheap; when I was a broke teenager I used to use Red Heart yarn and had one crochet hook that I made everything with. And I made mostly beanies and scarves, so I didn't need to buy pattern books.
