Re: What are some cheap things people can do for fun?

A lot of hobbies can be cheap or expensive, depending on how hardcore you want to go. Take hiking -- you can do it for the price of a reasonably sturdy pair of shoes, or you can buy out your local sporting goods shop, or all kinds of in between.

Still -- cheap/free fun: Local libraries have books, movies, sometimes video games for free. A lot of them also have discount passes to various attractions, museums, etc.

Also, if you have a community recreation center, they probably offer intramural sports and various classes (like cooking, dancing, drawing, tai chi, etc.) The classes probably aren't free, but they're probably relatively inexpensive.
