Probably best not to mention it to them. I mean then you have to explain why you felt it was important that they know this about you and try to figure out if you're creepily hitting on them.

But I don't think just liking it is bad. For me part of the fantasy is no one thinking it weird that a girl is entirely a girl and has never been treated as anything but a girl, she just naturally has a penis, and vice versa. No different from being born with blue eyes.

Trans characters I don't really want transness to be the h in someone h/c fantasy with the character.

i dont think 'mention it to them' means going up to someone and going so hay there what about them futanari, more like they can't post about it to their tumblr or something.

Kinda vague though. If it's something they're feeling guilty about they might be wanting to go ahead and confess.

But trans people are, well, people, and there's no way for strangers to read tea leaves and figure out if their response is going to be "Cool, I love it too." to "Eww, you're awful and should be ashamed" to anywhere inbetween
