The way you say it, I'd say maybe blames himself for bad parenting for letting you get fat, but I can't be sure.

That's the thing, I didn't even get fat until I was an adult, I was a normal weight until that point. (Went through a breakup which led to questioning my sexuality which led to an existential crisis which led to a bunch of emotional eating.) Like I mentioned, me being overweight is entirely my own fault, so I can't imagine why he'd blame himself. It just doesn't make sense to me, but maybe it's one of those things I'll just never get.
