If you are around babies enough, it happens. If a parent wiped off their babies mouth ever time they got food around it while eating, that is all the parent would be doing while the baby ate.

I think they mean 'why didn't you wipe my face off BEFORE THE PHOTO SHOOT'. Nobody's asking parents to install windshield wipers on their kids, we're asking them to put the camera away until after the Spaghettios are gone.
