Re: Phobias/Fears

I wouldn't call it a phobia... but. I did use to have this incredible fear of failure that would just stop me from trying to do things that I thought I couldn't accomplish.

I think the only thing that let me overcome it was coming face to face with the fact that I'm going to die someday at a fairly young age. I mean, I was right there. I didn't really have that much more time. It definitely made me wake up and think about the fact that everything is fragile and tenuous, and there's no point in letting the possibility of failure stop you from trying to do something.

Now, I'm still afraid of failing, but I use that more as a driving force than anything else. I use it when I don't have energy and I'm feeling too lazy to get up and do things. It's kind of useful to be able to go, "If you don't fucking read this right now you could fail." and have the natural OH SHIT reaction right there to get me off my ass.
