Pet Owners!

Why is your pet a complete idiot?

It is a cat.

My parents watch a lot of sports and they do a lot of yelling at the tv. My favorite thing is when I hear my mom yell followed by "sorry, cat" because she scared our cat. Sometimes she'll go on to earnestly tell him that he shouldn't sit next to them when they're watching sports. He still hasn't learned.

I had to stop watching football when I got a dog. Yelling is just the tip of the iceberg and my behaviour incites him to destroy everything in the house.

Because treats! And OMG CHEESE! And the postman is definitely going to kill us all, but we can forget that for two seconds while he passes out treats and now times up and he's going to kill us all!!!!!

My cat dunks his "baby" (which is a little, stuffed Snuggles bear he carries around with him everywhere) into his water dish.

My dog STILL hasn't figured out that the Mailman isn't going to come through the window, nor can she get him through said window.

LOL, that's cute :D.

Cats are so weird. And I say that with the utmost affection :).

My parents' cat has a stuffed clownfish she thinks is her baby (but also beats up sometimes for no reason.) Sometimes you will hear her meowing from another room and then she will come up to you carrying the fish and dump it at your feet while still meowing, and expect praises for it. Also once I witnessed her trying to teach it how to get down from a ladder.

He eats his own poop.

Re: Pet Owners!

(Anonymous) 2016-09-27 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Try feeding him a couple of spoonfuls of pineapple (I use canned crushed pineapple) every day. My dog ate her poop but this has stopped her completely, there's something in the pineapple that makes their poop taste bad to them. The pineapple trick works for me better (and cheaper) than products specifically meant for that purpose.

This is great advice. However, keep in mind, it doesn't always work. We gave my dog pineapples, products meant to make the poop unsavory, old home remedies, etc; she still ate her poop for eight whole years despite us constantly keeping up with the deterrents. Only reason she eventually stopped was because she developed stomach problems as she got older and can now only eat specialty food.

It should work for the average dog, but if you have a problem dog like mine, it may not work.

She still hasn't figured out whether she eats gophers or they eat her, and she's too afraid to get close enough to check. I think she's scared of the owl, too, and I've seen her nose in and leap back when examining a spider. (Which turned out to be a black widow, so props for discretion.)

My dog pees in his water dish and looks at me like I should give him a treat for this awesome feat.

She tries to eat live yellowjackets out of midair. STUPID DOG!

Kitty 1--Because he always sleeps close to the edge of the table he's on.

Kitty 2--Because he's just like his namesake Transformer, thus how he got his name.

Tries to eat the flies out of mid-air. Sometimes by chance he'll manage to almost catch one and it'll start buzzing around on the floor in its death throes, at which point it goes from 'tiny flying intruder, must kill' to 'OMG scary buzzing thing.' He'll sniff at it, then skitter backwards, creep forward again, skitter away, bark a couple times, sniff again, run away again. You caught it buddy, take care of it already.

he has lived here for a year and heard the garage door open and close multiple times a day every day during that time and he still freaks out at the sound of the garage door.

I mean he's getting better but there are times he'll flip his shit and run up to the top of the stairs to hide. meanwhile he doesn't react to thunder, the garbage truck, the lawn mower, or anything else louder and more startling.

He jumped out the half-open car window at 35mph to meet a dog he saw turn a corner. He had a scrape on a front paw and his chin, and nothing else. Lucky curr.

One of my cats gets overwhelmed by his toys and runs away from them. This is also the same cat who got his head caught in a small cloth bag the other night and freaked out, which freaked me out and made me cry over how freaked out he was. Maybe we're both complet idiots. :p
