It's smug, self-righteous, and preachy, but hey, that's a progressive for ya.

So it seems like one of the things that's going on here is that anon thinks that it is just clearly true that there is a stark, moral different between Trump and Clinton with regards to human rights, and you think it is just clearly not the case. And so what anon means as moral conviction comes across as self-righteous to you? Is that a fair summary?

No, anon is making a moral judgment about people who don't agree with them. That's what comes across as self-righteous.

Do you think there's any time when it's appropriate to make a moral judgment about people who disagree with you? Or is it just across-the-board self-righteous?

WTF

Please look up the definition of "self-righteous."

"Having or characterized by a certainty, especially an unfounded one, that one is totally correct or morally superior."

I think what I'm trying to get at here is, how much of this has to do with your belief that their certainty is unfounded? Is it the "unfounded" part of the definition that rubs you the wrong, or the part where it has to do with morality?

*boggles* It has nothing to do with whether or not it's unfounded. It's the attitude of smugness and intolerance. Do you honestly not understand this?

Dictionary.com:
confident of one's own righteousness, especially when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others

OK.
