You couldn't find anything on dreamwidth? I was looking into RPing on dreamwidth just a couple of months ago in my freetime, and there were a ton of options. I was active in the LJ RP circuit back in the day, and from what I've seen, the process is nearly identical. GET ON IT, OP!

yeah, all the stuff that used to be on LJ pretty much packed up and moved to DW whole cloth

the culture has changed some - it takes itself a lot more seriously than it used to, for better or worse - but the journal-based panfandom structure is pretty much intact

(unless you wanted single-fandom dressing room shenanigans. then you are pretty much shit out of luck unless you can collect some canonmates for PSLs, and that's an uphill climb)

Canonmates? PSL?

Can you decode this for me? I used to RP original characters WAYYYYYYYY back in the old days, primarily on an old chat server called Snap Chat, then I used AIM and MSN Messenger.

I am way, way out of my depth here even though I would love to get back into roleplaying.

Canonmates are characters from the same canon. A PSL is a private storyline (a one-on-one thing, as opposed to a many-person game).
