It depends, although there's usually a wet spot on the bed from bodily fluids, especially if we're talking missionary position. Also some people (myself included) like to put a towel down beforehand (if it's not spontaneous) for just that reason. Woman on top seems to be, in my experience, less messy, and it's more messy if there's cunnilingus beforehand. You can fuck, cuddle, and sleep afterwards, sure, but some prefer to clean up while others are content with sleeping in the wet spot!

I should add that the person who volunteers to take the wet spot side of the bed is a gem and that is considered a sweet thing to do. Like you could have a scene where character A asks if the sheets could be changed and character B says nah babe I'll take the wet spot, and character A goes awww. :D

I se this scene a lot, and never really got it. In an established long-term relationship, most couples have established which side of the bed they like and always sleep there. Many even maintain those L/R positions when travelling or otherwise not in their home bed. Wet spots would vary in location most times. B's offer to take the wet spot is moot if it's on A's side.

Or maybe I'd just like to see real-couple dynamics like that in more fic?
