For me the thing is, the way I write sex and the way I have sex are usually two totally different things. The sex I write is idealized and full of my personal fantasies. Real life sex can be silly, awkward, meh, a whole variety of things.

Example, in real life, I'm a double-protection girl because I'm petrified of getting pregnant (and no one will take out any pertinent parts even though hormone surges make my mental illness symptoms flare.). In fic? Condoms for casual sex, the pill for a deepening relationship, bareback all the way once in a committed relationship.

As for "after sex", I usually have the couples just cuddle up and go to sleep, though sometimes there's a little cleanup (a towel underneath that gets whipped off the bed, dampened washcloth for body parts, etc). Real life really depends. There's a reason I have different sheet sets (red for during periods, waterproofing of some sort in case of squirting, etc.)
