Re: Why do porn apologists think being anti-porn is the same as being anti-sex?

That doesn't really explain the idiots who, when faced with evidence of all the fucked up goings-on in the porn industry, will stick their fingers in their ears and shout "LALALALA, I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU 'CAUSE YOU'RE A PRUDE WHO HATES SEX."

That's no excuse. There's something seriously wrong with you if in order to get off you need to watch filmed representations of rape and abuse starring real live people who are actually being raped and abused IRL.

Do you think there could be a porn industry that didn't have those issues?

Personally, yes. I'm not anti-porn in theory, but I am mostly anti-porn as it is done.

But like...what's your endgame? Pornography is a thing that has existed pretty much since the dawn of humanity, and shutting down all the studios in Cali wouldn't change a thing. They'd move to places with fewer regulations and fewer protections in place for the actresses/actors, it would become more exploitative, more dangerous, more fucked up. And people will still pay for it, always. That's not a thing that's ever going to change. So wouldn't you rather it be at least somewhat protected than underground with no restrictions?

NAYRT, but I'm not anti porn and I think the solution is more regulation and also more openness about the shit that happens. People can be persuaded that sweatshops are bad without becoming nudists. Unfortunately I think for some people the fucked up shit is a draw.

There's being anti-porn and then there's being against the practices of some porn manufacturers.

Just like there's being against the practices of some footwear manufacturers, and then there's being anti-footwear.

If you're against porn itself, then you are a prude. And kind of a jerk, if you go around dumping your anti-porn opinions on others.

And if you have a problem with people who watch porn, then you'd better be damn sure you've never owned an article of clothing that was made in a sweatshop. Or purchased some other commercial item made in a sweatshop. Or purchased a magazine that had so much as a single photograph taken by Terry Richardson. Or one with a fashion editorial featuring an emaciated underage model, living on her own, at the mercy of her agency, in the desperate hope she can make some money to send home to her poverty-stricken family. For that matter, I hope you never listen to K-pop or watched any K-pop music videos, because man the K-pop industry is DODGY. And hell, Hollywood manages to be predatory as fuck towards many of its budding underage talents. In short, get back to me when you've cataloged every single piece of culture you've ever consumed and are absolutely positive no one was ever troublingly exploited in the making of these products.

Oh, and BTW, I don't actually watch porn, myself. Make of that what you will.

THIS ^^^^^

I am really not sure how you can even draw comparisons between 'people being raped on camera for your enjoyment' as someone said upthread to clips4sale people posting videos of their feet getting tickled and people paying for them.
