It's all about status, which is kind of ridiculous. But *shrugs* different people value different things, and if having a bag that says COACH on it makes someone feel good....

I don't get it either, but. It is what it is, I suppose.

I agree with you about the status thing - something came up on a video I watched once - I think it was in a series about fashion through the ages - that noted that the big name designers got to a point where most people could not afford to buy their clothing, so they branched into selling things like handbags and shoes so they could sell something to the general public that couldn't afford couture fashion.

So an average person can't buy Chanel clothing, but can feel a bit fancy if they can walk around with a Chanel handbag.
