I don't know, if it's a character like Genji or Genos who is cis male, it would make more sense that, should he get any type of artificial sex organ, he'd go for a dick instead of a pussy. And if he didn't, bringing up trans headcanons would actually be not too far-fetched either.

I was thinking that about Genji, after I looked up some of the Overwatch characters the other day and read their stories.

And if he didn't, bringing up trans headcanons would actually be not too far-fetched either.

Y'know that would be really interesting actually - having a character who is trans, had to stay in the closet for whatever reason, and then when they became a cyborg and the reason for being in the closet was removed (as would be the case with Genji, though I don't know whether it would make a ton of sense for him to be trans or not) they pick robobits that match their gender.

That'd be kind of an interesting story to write. Not just the bits - having cyborg parts added to yourself and making yourself look more masculine/feminine in the process, and everyone around you being like "wait"

I agree. It would make for an interesting approach to the usual trans headcanon plot. (Especially since a lot of trans stories spend a huge amount of attention on the pre-op bodies of characters, so seeing a character happily transitioning on their own terms because they finally have the option to do so would be refreshing.)

The manga Battle Angel Alita: Last Order has a character somewhat like this -- Sechs is one of a dozen "brain chip" clones of the main cyborg character, Alita (a human brain in an artificial body). The clones were made by an organization to have fighters with Alita's abilities but under their complete control, and are placed in similar female bodies. So when that organization falls, the clones all have no directives for the first time. Sechs eventually ends up quite happily in a male body; meanwhile, two of the other clones keep their female bodies and dress/act a lot more stereotypically feminine compared to Alita. (Alita herself thinks of trading to a male body once, but admits it's only because she's trying to forget her past.)

Just dropping by to express my joy over seeing Battle Angel being brought up. Honestly, Alita/Gally is probably my favorite cyborg character.

Ohhhh my god, Battle Angel Alita started my love of cyborgs/robots. I was wayyyyy too young to watch the OVAs and stuff, but as I got older and was able to read the manga, it just became one of those things that I just connected with

ayrt -- belated thumbs up, she's the first cyborg character I can remember coming across that really grew as an individual over time and not just in the "powering up" sense. Nervous about the upcoming Hollywood adaptation but hopeful :)

Well some of us are sick of the trans headcanon brigade dragging their obnoxious bullshit into eveyrthing, so fuck off.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-01 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, so you whine and complain about people calling your fetish shitty while calling another fandom fetish shitty in turn. You're not a hypocrite at all!

(Anonymous) 2016-10-01 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't give a fuck about anyone's fetishes I just want the twans snowflake bunself tumblrites to shut the fuck up forever.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-01 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
And some people want the robopussy worshippers to shut the fuck up as well, yet here they still are.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-01 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see any robopussy fetishists sending people death threats for disagreeing with their headcanons.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-01 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, you're one of the annoying people who need to bring up tumblr issues even though it was originally about comments on secrets here.
For the record, I'm not a fan of trans headcanons myself, but tumblr morons weren't exactly the topic here. And I've never seen any trans headcanons fans send death threats around here.

This comment chain is pretty revealing. Usually anti trans hc people claim to be opposed to cis people fetishizing us or doing it for for PC SJW backpats. Because, you see, they really care about respecting the trans!
Your honesty is refreshing. (For the FS community, that is. Fuck off speshul snowflakes is a popular sentiment, but around here people tend to cover themselves a bit more.)
