I once ran a fan forum where I added to the drama by getting into ship wars and trying to one-up people with the type of arguments you're using. It was really bad of me (way more so because I was an admin!) but I understand how, when people are making arguments and shaming people, the most natural reaction is to do the same thing back rather than be the bigger person. So I think where you are is 100% understandable, but it's not a pretty place to be.
