It took him 36 films to hire even ONE non-white actor. That's kind of a bizarre claim. Firstly, because he hasn't directed 36 films. Secondly, because Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman (hey, Billy Dee Williams), Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks!, Planet of the Apes, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, and Big Eyes all have non-white actors. Not many, I will grant you, sometimes only one a film and pretty much supporting roles, but they exist.

I would completely agree if you said the main cast in most of his movies is very white.
