pretty much everything in this article about hyenas (aside from the incredibly painful and often fatal births...we can just skip that part): http://knowledgenuts.com/2013/10/10/female-hyenas-have-a-bigger-penis-than-males/

it would be pretty hot in fic ngl (especially since I have a thing for submissive dudes and domm-y ladies)

The cubs don’t leave Mom unscathed on their way out. A 1-kilogram (2 lb) cub has to fit through a 2.5-centimeter (1 in) birth canal. At best, the clitoris is torn, causing a wound that takes weeks to heal. At worst, birth can be fatal. Around 20 percent of mothers die during childbirth.

what the fuck, evolution?

Evolution is a bitch. Unlike female hyenas.

Obviously the advantages conferred must somehow outweigh the casualties. I mean, it has to, that is how evolution works? Right?

I saw a recent analogy comparing evolution to a straight C student. Does enough to pass (even if it's only barely, at times), and that's it.
