52. Fanbrats and their behaviors are annoying, but I hope you're not trying to say that hardcore gay porn represents realism in gay relationships, because it doesn't. Porn is fantasy. Yaoi is fantasy. Most slash and yaoi fans realize this. And most yaoi fans have seen gay porn at some point.

Also: raep can be good fun to read about.

I think it's more about gay SEX than gay relationships

See: the fact that a lot of fan made yaoi is light, slight undressing, kissing, compromising positions but rarely hardcore stuff

You and I have been looking at very different fan made yaoi, I think. Hard core fanworks are hardly rare.

Either way, when it comes to American made fan-yaoi, either I'm failing at search/not searching enough, or the fandom isn't producing much hardcore, or both

I think you're either in fandoms where there isn't much hard core or you're looking in the wrong places. Yaoi itself means the hard core stuff - people have watered down the term to include shounen ai in it. I've never had a problem finding hard core yaoi art, and I definitely haven't had a problem finding NC-17 rated fic. That's practically everywhere you look. And people constantly rant in different venues about why there is so much porn in fan fic. That rant has been done to death over on fanficrants.

Well, the OP is talking primarily about fic, which is mostly what my comments were directed at, though in general I've found a lot of NC-17 art in the fandoms I'm interested in.

I don't really think a difference of opinions is going to 'explode' - I'm not one for wank over fandom or genres.
