Yes! Things are definitely designed to need replacing or to make you need to upgrade to newer or better in a shorter time frame than should really be necessary. It's very frustrating and I find it wasteful.

I wouldn't really buy new things if they didn't keep dying or becoming obsolete and incompatible with everything. I'm cheap and I like what I'm used to.
