Whoops, I misread. I thought that YOU were going to write the pleasant fact that makes it a bit better.

I guess the fact that makes it a bit better is that life expectancy is still rising at this point.

TBH this has been fucking with me lately.

Me too, especially since I'm starting to be concerned for my mom's mental health. This election hasn't been good for her (she's a Trump supporter.)

Well something bad could happen to them, so that they'll die suddenly without deteriorating. Which you don't have to see, but then you're left without the closure and preparedness that would come from losing someone you love after an long illness. Which is more awful, aaaah?!

No matter what identity boxes you tick, there's at least 1000 people in the world who truly, ardently, with all their heart, want you dead for it.

You're more likely to get cancer than not.

Cancers that had an incredibly poor prognosis even ten years ago are now becoming very treatable thanks to advances in research. tl;dr You'll probably get cancer, but it probably won't kill you.

Unpleasant: You're going to die.

Pleasant: You're going to escape from the horrible prison that is immortality.

Unpleasant fact of life: taxes.

What makes it a little better: infrastructure improvements! Like finally filling potholes! Actually I have a really good story that just happened to me: I just moved and there was one intersection on my new commute that was so dumb, the line to get through it was sooooo long with a lopsided timed cycle, mandatory left turn arrows etc. I mentioned this to my dad and he suggested reporting it. Then because he's curious and he does things like this, he looked up where to report it and made a request.

The light actually got noticeably better.

Dunno if it's because of his report, or solely because of it, but I've been very happy with it!

As a teacher I feel obligated to like taxes at least a lil bit. :P

That's a really good example. My city's services are great, and they're great because they have funding. It's worth it.

Lisa Whelchel grew up kind of crazy and wrote an awful parenting book that suggests doing things like clipping a clothespin on a child's tongue for mouthing off.

Mindy Cohn seems to have carved a niche for herself voicing Lego Velma Dinkley in video games, and supposedly has a movie (not Scooby-Doo related) coming out next year.

*plays rimshot at choice of facts*

Cohn also does Velma in most of the cartoons (she's not in Be Cool, but she is in the DTV movies, and was in Mystery, Inc).

Pets can get sick too and don't know to run tothe bathroom 😩
