Driving with Vertigo

[personal profile] philstar22 2016-10-19 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I have to drive tomorrow morning for about 45 minutes to get to my Spanish class. I really need to go. However, my sinus issues have caused severe vertigo the past couple of days. I already skipped some errands I needed to do because I didn't feel comfortable driving.

Does anyone have any tips for driving while dizzy?

Have you tried taking Dramamine/Bonine?

I take meclizine, which is the same drug that is in bonamine. Usually that does the trick. But the sinus infection or whatever sinus thing I have is making it a lot worse. The med is just taking the edge off the vertigo.

Short answer? Don't.

I had a friend who drove while tired. He ended up dying and causing serious injury to someone else when he apparently got tired and drove across the center line. It would be very easy to have a small moment when dizziness caused distraction and you ended up in a similar situation. No class is worth the lives of you and the people around you.

Please don't drive that long with vertigo. It's super dangerous. Do they have Uber or Lyft where you live?

I assume so, but still unemployed. My mother wasn't willing to drive, but I can try asking her again. If not, I just won't go.
