Even though the monsters are vampires, they're a relatively unique version on them (they're more snake-like), so if you're suffering from vampire burnout it shouldn't be a problem

Well, all the antagonists (up to midway through the second season, where I'm at) are either vampires or humans. The vampires are played pretty subtly at first, only becoming explicit antagonists (and protagonists) about midway through.
I think it's a fun show, and I appreciate their take on vampires

Movie changes drastically in tone when they reach the Mexican border, so if you can sit through 45-60 minutes of Tarantino playing someone creepier than he is you'll enjoy the back half immensely.
