Why am I such a lightweight. I had two glasses of wine at my new company's event and I am drunk as fuck. I even spilled wine on myself and I am impressed I got home. I can hardly read. omg. I don't know how I'll even look at anyone tomorrow. I tried to play it cool, but drunk me just ends up talking loudly and stumbling. oduhfsoduhgosdufsd

I don't know man I have the opposite problem. I can spent like $100 at the bar and 20 shots of hard liquor later I'm just buzzed while my friends are staggered and puking after six beers.

No wait I do know my family's full of alcoholics.

This is me. My friends have tried multiple times to get me drunk and have never succeeded. On the plus side, it's hilarious to watch all of THEM get drunk in the process while I'm still almost completely sober.

Yeah and there's nothing you can do about it either. It's genetic, unfortunately. I you can get tougher re: alcohol, but not weaker.

Is it because you are Asian or Native American?

That sucks, but drinking to the point of obvious intoxication is probably a bad idea at a company event, anyway.

Better learn how to say, "Thanks, I'm good" with a warm smile before you really embarrass yourself in front of co-workers or the boss. :(

Have a glass, then have a ginger ale or water. Then if you want, have that second glass. And if someone offers alcohol and you don't want it, say no thanks or that you'll have a nonalcoholic drink.

Eat something bready beforehand, and then sip slowly and savor. Don't chug or take big gulps.

After you're done drinking, sip on a cup or two of water, preferably room temperature to warm.

Tomorrow should be fine. As long as you didn't do anything super embarrassing, like try to start a singalong or hit on a coworker or throw up on someone, it probably won't even register on the "weird things we've seen coworkers do at an event" meter.

However, now that you know that 2 glasses is at least 1 too many for you, avoid overindulging at future company events. If you feel too weird turning down a drink when someone offers you one, then you'll need to either learn the art of nursing one drink for most of the evening, or preemptively grab something nonalcoholic. That way, when the boss offers to top you up you can request another seltzer and lime.

Being a lightweight rocks in that you save a lot of money on alcohol!

But it suuuucks being around party animal assholes who have no respect or acceptance for anyone who is a lightweight. Like, I don't want to have 80 shots because I will fucking DIE look at me, but ty
