But, he was sacrificing himself to blow up an evil creature and save the earth/humanity.

That is different than blowing yourself up and taking innocent civilians with you to make a point.

This. Of course, suicide bombers think they are taking out evil people. But that doesn't make them right. In Supernatural there are objectively evil creatures that need to be killed. If you don't buy into that fine (don't watch then), but don't claim they are actually innocents and that Dean is the same as a suicide bomber. The difference is pretty clear.

And honestly, if Dean would have had to go through with the plan, I would have considered it more of a murder/suicide than anything. He would have only been killing himself and Amara. There would have been no civilian casualties.

Yup. Now, I do think he's crossed the line a few times. I think torture is wrong regardless. But that just makes him an interesting character. But in this case, it was absolutely the right thing to do.
