Why? Wanting something else is perfectly fine but there's nothing wrong with creating a work that appeals to a specific kind of demographic.

And IMO criticizing that while there are many examples of something worse (implications that actually seem genuine but have no point) is kind of disingenuous.

But honestly, you want same sex relationships/gay characters in works that aren't bl?
There isn't much anime afaik (I can only think in No6 and HaruChika, though I'm sure there are a handful more), but there are pretty good mangas out there like My brother's husband.

There's no need to rain on other's people parade when there are other works that do cater to you.

They are creating a work with subtext but not following through, so they can get money from fujoshi without alienating other audience members. Gay relationships are still controversial in Japan, and gay marriage isn't legal. Like, just because they're appealing to a certain demographic doesn't mean what they're doing is something that should be free from criticism.

The fact that I don't criticize every anime/manga ever with gay/lesbian baiting means I'm being disingenuous? Lol okay.

I've read and watched all the examples you've mentioned. I am aware that there is content out there, but I think I'm allowed to be annoyed when all the gay bait-y stuff gets these big animation budgets and beautiful animation (Sound! Euphonium and Free! are KyoAni, for instance), while a lot of anime/manga with prominent gay characters that get to be in relationships are very few in number and those that do exist don't get the same budgets.

I'm sure things will be better in the future, and I'm happy that Western cartoon fandoms are starting to listen to fans about LGBT representation, but like...I still find this kind of thing annoying. lol

If you find it annoying, then don't watch it?

This show isn't alienating anyone because they're upfront about what it's about so everyone can choose to watch it or not without holding false expectations. That's why your complain sound like a wank bait even if there are some valid points in the middle of it.

Even if they are upfront about it, I don't like what they're doing in the first place. I mean, I obviously sound whiney, because I'm not going to be able to change that.

Frankly, yeah, I don't plan on watching any more of it, but I don't hold it against people who do.
