Ok, here we go. When Avengers came out I binged on a lot of Thor/Loki fic. A lot. And a lot of it liked to follow to same redemption plotline if it was set post Avengers.

Loki had fallen, been found by Thanos (Hydra) tortured and brainwashed, given a weapon upgrade staff (arm) and been unleashed on Earth. What we had seen was sincere total brainwashing with glimpses of the real Loki who remembered Thor and loved him but who was overwhelmed by mind control.

Now Loki's a prisoner and he doesn't deserve to be locked up because he may have done bad things but it wasn't his fault, and Thor would argue to have him freed, or would break him out himself, to rehabilitate him and heal him with his love. Sometimes all the rest of the Avengers would help, but more likely the authors favorites would be supportive and the others antagonistic and need to be convinced. So there would be Drama in addition to all the healing cock going on.

The result is, when I watched CATWS and CACW my first thought was joking that someone had been binging on Thor/Loki woobie!Loki fic! And decided to make a character where a lot of it was canon!

Yeah, I know, it's that they're easy common tropes for having a character do antagonistic things and still be very sympathetic, I still found the similarities funny.

I have not really gone on another fic-hunt after Thor The Dark World so I am sure the standard fic template has probably changed some since then.

I still don't like this secret, I think it's the way it's worded. Bucky's not even my favorite character but the S! seems like a subtle bash.

You however, have provided some good examples.
