If they like pineapple, a pineapple corer. As a lover of pineapple, it is nice to be able to have a fresh pineapple prepared in about 30 seconds.

I misread this as a pineapple cover and spent a good minute imagining something like a tea cosy, but for a pineapple.

Socks. Scarves. Cool bottle openers. Blank sketchbooks/journals- I never write in them, so I strongly prefer unlined.

Possibly lotion or soaps, but some people are particular about scents they like, or have very sensitive skin.

Seconding socks. I've been getting slipper socks in my stocking for as long as I can remember and I love them every year.

I know a guy who likes mushrooms, and he told me that if you see a bunch of dog stinkhorn(mutinus caninus or mutinus elegans) mushrooms, you can find an "egg" - an immature stage of the mushroom, which the stinkorn will come out of. If you take the egg and plant it in someone's flowerpot, it will spout a bunch of dog stinkhorns.

The most vagina looking egg turns into the most penis looking mushroom.

I'm with you for the rest of the list, but batteries kind of crosses into "lol, I didn't know what to get you" territory for me. I think you'd have to be absolutely sure someone wanted them to give them as a gift.

Oh, yeah, stationery. I love boxes of pretty notecards. And the mugs idea. Unless they've got a sticker on 'em saying they've got lead paint. Frickin' really? Well, at least I do use it for my pencils and pens...

I didn't know what a Tokyo Banana was, so I looked it up and I really want one. Especially the "Tokyo Banana Raisin Sandwich": Rum-raisin banana ganache sandwiched between banana scented cookies. Whaaat!

It kinda reminds me that back in the 1930s, the original Twinkie was banana flavored. But bananas weren't available in large quantities during WWII, so Twinkies became vanilla. Oh the things I remember from my food history class.

Chocolate. I'm always happy to see chocolate in my stocking. Chapstick/makeup sorts of things, earrings (I like the cheep ones that are dangly). A nice card that is personalized is always great in my mind. Get one you know they'll love and then say some really personal things in it. That always makes me happy and I always have fun picking out the perfect cards for people.

Pet treats or toys! I mean, obviously, make sure they have a pet and the pet likes treats and/or toys but I always find it a very thoughtful gift. And most of the time people's pets destroy/hide toys fast enough that a new one is unlikely to gather dust.
