Does Amnesia: The Dark Descent make anyone else nauseous?

[personal profile] dani_phantasma 2016-10-23 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
My brother and i attempted a livestream of me playing Anmesia, but I had to quit early because for what ever reason the more I played the game the more I felt sick and queasy.

Did anyone else have that reaction? I'm trying to understand why I did, I think it had to do with the view that would get all weirdly distorted and the shaking. It wasn't even fear that made me quit I don't think I got to anything really scary.

Literally the reason I had to stop playing it! I wasn't scared at all, I was motion-sick. It's something in the way the camera "realistically" bobs with your steps, I think. It's awful.

It doesn't happen while I am playing but I know a lot of my friends have issues with motion sickness and games. My last roommate could play Portal 2 fine, but couldn't watch me play it cause all the flying around of the camera made her nauseous

That must be it. something about the atmosphere and the motions of the cameras did it. And some weird tremoring that kept happening

I get motion sickness from a lot of first person games, maybe that could have something to do with it in your case as well?

Yeah I think that might be it.

I don't think I've ever gotten motion sickness from games before. Something about this one.

The shakiness/blurryness could very well have something to do with it. Personally, I can't play (or watch, it's even worse when watching) Minecraft, of all games, without getting massively motion sick. With other first person games, it all depends on the speed you have to play them at - I'm alright with stealth games, but hectic shooting and running around? Not so great.
