LOL. Having a sense of fun and adventure does not mean never being disturbed by anything ever. And it doesn't take "feminist theory" to become disturbed by sexualizing kids.

OK, well regardless I'm confused as to why this is a secret since everyone seems to be in complete agreement that these books are sexist and terrible.

My bet is that OP hasn't seen any discussion of this on the Internet before and didn't realize that it's kind of become the consensus view

You'd have to be living under a rock to not know that calling out sexism in fiction is the consensus view.

+1 It'd be nice, but nah, it's not a consensus view. Especially among old school sci-fi/fantasy fans, and Piers Anthony is definitely old school.

Perhaps they didn't realize that everyone agreed with them that it was sexist

(Anonymous) 2016-10-25 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Because Piers Anthony is a huge name in fantasy. And probably because there are always commenters like the anon who thinks anyone who dislikes reading about poor treatment of women and sexualization of children is some kind of shrieky feminazi.
