Do you think I should get paid for the writing that I do for the fandom? Because most people who have your view think artists deserve money but writers don't.

da
Plenty of fic writers are getting patreons too nowadays
There is less of a culture of it with fanfic cause of the Copyright Battles of Fandom Old but more people are doing it now a days

I'd say it's less of a culture because people think writing doesn't involve work.

Maybe some people, but there is the bigger issue of its much easier to get sued for fan writing than fan art. That used to happen to fan writers, and so people are antsier about opening themselves and others up for that. Thats also why if you're trying to show portfolios to say, comic publishers, you can show them all the art you want, but they won't look at an unpublished script. The legality is different.

It's not a question of should or shouldn't get paid. But if that was something you wanted to do, I'd say hell yeah, man, go for it

Nah, I don't think I deserve to get paid for producing derivative works for a ready-made audience.

That's a fair personal choice for you to make but I don't think it's an objective moral principle.

IMO this might be something to run by the creators first. I don't quite agree with people making money off of something based on a creation that wasn't originally theirs, but if the creators don't give a shit, who am I to object to it?

Do you think the actors who worked on Ghostbusters and everyone else involved deserved to get paid?
The Star Trek actors past TOS?
Writers who write for TV shows?
Comic book artists and writers?

Why or why not?
