Play your cards right and you can snag things for very cheap or make a killing selling them.

I'm thinking more of amiibo - the fervor has died down, but when they were releasing Smash Bros. characters, whoo boy - I got several from Japan cheaper than stateside.

although some of them are downright useless re; bonus content. Looking at you, Callie and Marie.

Amiibo are pretty much deflating now. Aside from a couple (like 1st print Villager), you can find any of them NIB for MSRP or lower from retailers (and if they're not available now, they'll be restocking over the next few months). I've gotten to the point where I'll just wait for the price to drop to $7-8 with Prime shipping on Amazon for new releases. I kind of regret camping out and stalking preorder pages now.

Now Amiibo CARDS on the other hand, hoo boy. If you can manage to get a very popular villager's card (like Marshal), you can potentially sell one for $20-40, depending on luck at the time of sale. People are eating those things up like crazy because of the new New Leaf update coming out.
