Funerals are stupid. I like wakes. It's like a party where there's also the option of a good cry, and you can remember the good shit about someone without having to be formal if the person who died would've been bored shitless by formality.

Wooden caskets are fine, it's metal caskets and burial vaults that are a problem. Decomposing into a skeleton is so much less gross than turning into greasy goo sloshing around in a metal capsule in a concrete box.

Mum has come to agree that I don't need to have a funeral for her and can cremate her without fuss. Maybe hold an informal wake, and then toss her ashes off the Gap (that is, a high cliff at the mouth of Sydney Harbour).
