Not OP

I think it will make more money. Lasting popularity, I'm not so sure about. Lots of high profile movies with big stars make giant box office opening days... before everyone realizes it sucks.

nayrt - Yeah. I'd be surprised if it proved to be as popular as the original franchise in the long run, despite Tom Cruise's star power.

What made the old franchise so great was its ability to make fun of itself. It knew what it was, between action scenes. I just can't see Tom Cruise carrying that kind of series. The guy is like chronically crazy-eyed serious. The only comedic roles I've ever thought he was good in was when he was playing a character that is supposed to be chronically crazy-eyed serious.
