Worst system is just sticking the name together. Alice/Bob means one loves the other more, Alice + Bob has them all lovey dovey, Alice x Bob has X rated thing happening between them, AliceBob is the characters sewn together Human Centipede style and Albob is... a freaky DBZ fusion of the two?

*squints* What fandom is this? Every fandom I've ever been in has followed the same sort of rules. In your examples, Alice/Bob would mean Alice tops, Alice + Bob would mean friendship between them or pre-shippy stuff and Alice x Bob means it's a shipfic.
