Two men and a sexy mummy queen sounds more like they're making a movie of Anne Rice's The Mummy rather than rebooting the Brendan Fraser version.

Well, it'd be more accurate to say that the Cruise movie isn't necessarily based on the Brendan Fraser movies, it's based on the original 1932 film with Boris Karloff. Anne Rice's book is more along those lines as well, so there are similarities.
