I don't know if he's awful, but he's certainly one of the dullest characters in the series.

Harry's always been the one to fascinate me the most. It makes sense to me that he would sit back and let things happen to him most of the time because he grew up having things happen to him, where being pro-active would only get him into trouble with the Dursleys.

I actually couldn't get through the first book because I found him so profoundly dull that I couldn't muster up any energy to care about what happened to him.

Too bad you couldn't muster up the energy to see him get sassy with his uncle, and others. Shit, I love sassy Harry. lol

But seriously, he gets pretty sassy and disrespectful as the books go on.
