Inspired by #7

What non-incest ships with incest-y vibes do you ship?

Re: Inspired by #7

(Anonymous) 2016-11-01 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I ship incest all the time but actually find pseudo-incest dynamics really squicky, huh.

I guess Rorke/Logan could be incest-y, since Rorke and Logan's dad were BFFs.

Bosselot could be incest-y too if you subscribe to the BB was banging The Boss theory.

BB/The Boss is more incesty than Bosselot to me, she was like his mom.

Oh yeah for sure. No argument there.

I ship both.

Oh, I thought you were saying BB/The Boss wasn't incesty, my bad.

Would Solid/Liquid count as literal or figurative incest? Are clones relatives?

BROTHER!!!

Biologically, sure. They weren't raised together, though, so that's... less skeezy? To me. It's not like pregnancy's a problem here.

Seriously though who ships Solid/Liquid.

Thor/Loki? Do those count since they are not actually related?

I guess Scott/Stiles might give some people a sort of incest-y vibe.

Uh, Thor/Loki are still related. Even if not by blood, they were still raised together. Adopted siblings are still siblings. So still incest.

I agree with you but whether or not other people do depends on whether their issue with incest is the biological problems that come with (several generations of) incest or the psychological issues involved.

I don't think you can say it isn't incest, though. Ship it, fine. Don't think it is the sort of incest that is illegal, fine. But they are brothers, and I think saying they aren't is rather dismissive of adoption.

Well, biological problems with incest aren't really relevant when you have a same-sex pair...

But is that incest? Like, could you get arrested for it? Morally, it might be wrong but I guess I don't count it as "real" incest.

Re: Inspired by #7

[personal profile] philstar22 2016-11-01 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It may not be the incest that is illegal, but they are brothers so it is incest. I think saying it isn't is very dismissive of adoption, whether or not you think this particular type of incest is morally wrong or not.

Most states specifically include it in their incest laws and all 50 states and DC's incest laws cover it regardless because of the destination between adoption (a person becoming a permanent member of a family) and guardianship (temporary).

I don't think "legally" is a good definition for incest. For one, it's going to depend on where you go - country by country, state by state, period in time by period in time.

You're probably just better off distinguishing between biological incest, and non-biological incest incest.

They were raised under the belief that they were actually blood-related so I'd definitely say it counts 100% as incest, and even with the reveal that doesn't suddenly erase their history as brothers and Thor still argues their family relation despite it which would still make it tick the incest box all around for me.

The only time I might consider adoption related incest as maybe not incest is if all parties are completely aware that they're not blood-related but even then it would entirely depend on the circumstances.

Bruce Wayne/Dick Grayson. Definitely one of the most incest-y Batships, but so damn delicious.

I also ship my Fire Emblem Fates MC with like 70% of their siblings, so...

All my Clone ships. No one but other Clones growing up, likely discouraged to have sexual relationships but do look at each other like brothers, and isolated from other races (both developmentally and legally) - they're definitely their own kind of relationships.

This.

I found it kind of ironic that when a popular post was going around about TFA of "Fool me once, Lucas. I'm not shipping anyone until I get some family trees." And I'm just sitting there with several Waxer/Boil fics open in tabs. "Wait, people are worried about that?"

Aw, I love Waxer/Boil. I wish there was more fic for them.

The only one I can directly think of is a ship from my BG days - Sarevok/Imoen. They're both Bhaalspawn, but I did once read a debate that was about how close a biological relationship that would mean, since Bhaal could be using different avatars with each female he impregnated.

But unlike Charname/Imoen, they did not grow up together and were enemies in the first game. Suffice to say, there's no family feeling there, and Sarevok has, by Throne of Bhaal time, lost his bhaalspawn taint due to dying anyway.

But I tend to be a fan of straight-up incest anyway, so these days I feel the quibble on how incestuous bhaalspawn/bhaalspawn relationships are is pointless as far as my shipping is concerned.

Master/Padawan stuff can be pretty incesty. And I am all fucked up and love it when it goes from semi-parent/child to friends to lovers. And yes, I am 110% aware it is as unrealistic as a/b/o and the unrealistic part is what makes it hot.
