The Elliot/Olivia would work for me if Elliot wasn't married. I comfort myself by shipping them as a 'would die for each other but not wanting to bang' pairing.

I get where you're coming from.

The adultery thing is what turns me off of it so much. I think they have a very strong relationship, and there is a great deal of sexual tension between them, but I don't think it's anything romantic.

Exactly. It would be WAY too OOC for Elliot to cheat on his wife and even if he suddenly went mad and wanted to I don't think Olivia would let him. There's an element of love there, maybe, but it's a comrade-in-arms sort of love. And I like those sorts of pairings too.

I don't think you could even make it work sexually in an AU where he's single, given how much characterization comes from his wife and kids.
