16. I understood less and less of this secret as it went on. Anyhow--I think 'normal' sexuality is (and always has been) just far weirder than you give it credit for. Fandom's nothing new. Spend a day in the library reading 120 days of Sodom or the Story of the Eye. . .or, heck, even any version of any culture's mythology not written by Bulfinch or made as an illustrated guide for children (including the Bible) and I guarantee you, you'll never turn a hair at anything you see in fandom ever again. (I suppose it's possible that freaky porn would just cease to exist altogether in any culture that had a completely ~*~healthy~*~ attitude towards sex, just as Marx thought religion would cease to exist once global revolution satisfied all the desires people felt but had no real outlet for under capitalism. Until then, enjoy your tentacles. <3)

I'm not sure, since I don't speak Latin. It's the name of a character from this book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stages_on_Life's_Way); I figured I'd use it for a screenname since all the other Kierkegaard pseudonymous and anonymous characters are male.

Oh, good old Kierkegaard... I tried struggling through The Sickness Unto Death as a fourteen year old, didn't work very well lol

I failed utterly to get into his work when I tried it first, too--I started with 'The Concept of Dread' which is one of the drier things he ever wrote. It wasn't until I tried Either/Or, later, that he started to make sense. And then everything of his that I read after made more sense in light of Either/Or.

I think the existentialists are just easier to get into via their fiction or poetry. When they speculate in grand abstract unproven/unprovable generalizations about Subjective Experience, it all makes much more sense if you know what specific concrete examples of human experiences they're drawing upon. :D
