And I hated Gravitation. I'm amazed that people like it at all.

Reminds me of what I've heard of some queer women's spaces. FTM are just fine despite identifying as men, but MTF? FUCK YOU NO PENIS ALLOWED EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO INFILTRATE OUR RANKS.

Honestly? I liked Gravitation, when I was 13. It was one of my first memorable exposures to gay romance in media(which is pretty fucking sad, I know). Today I'm big into queer shit in general, but I still think I owe something to those days when all I had was fansubbed Gravitation and sneaking into my brother's room late at night to watch gay films on cable.

Not a lot of animosity toward mtfs in fandom, or so I've seen, which is sort of interesting. But I've seen radfems that pretty much ignored the existence of ftms because they were just so focused on the oncoming PENIS INVASION. With queer women, butch has started to blend into ftm... but sigh. GENDER POLITICS. Or something.

Oh, I didn't come into contact with Gravitation until I was... 18? 19? But I can sort of see how it would be appealing when you're younger. Also, I sort of liked her hardcore porn doujins around that time, but I just tend to like porn a lot.

I discovered gay sex at around age 11 or so from my dad's rather old collection of Penthouse Letters magazines, which used to sometimes have a section called "Boy Meets Boy/Girl Meets Girl." I think today it's just "Girl Meets Girl" and that's rather sad, at least for the gay and gender-confused youth raiding their parents' porno drawer who want to see boys with boys. :(

I haven't heard anything about MTFs in fandom, which I take as a positive sign. As for butch blending with FTM, I actually had a conversation with another transguy the other day about how the lesbian community is often a safe space for FTMs to begin experimenting with masculine identity(as was his case), despite animosity in some circles.

I'm 20, and if I were discovering Gravitation now, it wouldn't appeal to me in the least, as I've since lost my taste for BL and shoujo. It was good for me then, I think. It piqued a more general interest in queer literature and media.

You know, I dug around in my parent's room all the time when I was little, and I never found porn. I don't remember "discovering" gay sex at any one point, but I do remember finding hardcore hentai-style fanart of Ash Ketchum and Gary Oak when I was in the sixth grade. I almost envy you your magazines, although I'm surprised Penthouse ever had a gay male section.
