The Dreidel song for some reason I can't fathom. Haven't heard it recently, am not Jewish, so why is it suddenly stuck in my head?

Cody Jinks' No Words. Ugh it's so beautifully written, I don't know how he does it.

Fit for a King by Kyle Park.

It's a song where the majority of the lyrics are George Strait song titles.

Tumblr

I'm curious how people tumblr with regards to reblogs. Does anyone reblog a ton of stuff in a row or do you queue everything? I ask because I don't follow anyone or look at my dash and keep to myself but someone just started following me who I've reblogged from and like. I'd rather not send them packing but I usually reblog as I see stuff, which can be a lot in one go if I'm surfing through a tag.

I'm curious if there's an expectation to use queueing and how long the interval should be in a queue (can it be a few minutes or does it have to be a few hours?). Do you follow people who reblog a ton of stuff at once or does that even register with you?

I queue 99% of the posts I really. Just in case I am not for a few days. Got it set
to put up 8 posts a night.

Do you follow anyone who doesn't queue?

I mix it up, but if you reblog a lot at once, i'm not likely to stick around

I queue a lot, but I also reblog if I'm going through my feed and it's been a few minutes since my last reblog. I try not to do that too much, and I try to tag my posts consistently so that anyone is sick of seeing something in particular from me they can block the tag.

There are a few people I follow who drive me nuts because they'll reblog dozens of things all in a row and it's a pain to scroll through (...although I don't really know why I feel like this, because they're not all the same kinds of posts, and if I weren't looking at who posted it, I probably couldn't tell they were all from the same person....but it's still annoying for some reason).

You can adjust the posting rate of your queue, too.

I never queue anything on my main blog. I do on one of my side blogs. I reblog what I like when it comes across my dash...so I reblog in groups whenver I check my tumblr. A few people I follow do use the queue, which I only know because they tag it as such. If someone makes dozens of posts/reblogs a day, I'll unfollow, but if they're small groups of posts, I figure they're doing the same as I am.

I figure if people don't like how I post on my blig, they can unfollow me. Also, before I follow anyone, I check out their blog to see how often they post.

I reblog as I see things, usually.

People I follow are a mix - some have queues, some go full reblog spree all at once.

I queue my posts, but that's because my queue is usually pretty full. I also don't want to flood people with posts. You can adjust your queue to how you want it to run, I have mine set up to post twice an hour. But once again that's because I usually keep my queue pretty full.

At home farming!

(Anonymous) 2016-11-12 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Does anyone here raise their own chickens for eggs and slaughter? I thought about starting my own chicken coop but wanted to see if anyone else had experience.

Re: At home farming!

My old hens always end up as pets and not dinner, but I do eat their eggs. They will be at their most productive for the first two years, after that, egg production tapers off, but you will still get eggs, usually in spring and summer, for years after that if you don't eat the poor old ladies. If you do eat them, well, they will be tougher than what you're used to because they're older and get more exercise than the typical factory farm hen. I say hen because if you're in a city, many allow hens but not (noisy) roosters. If you want a steady supply of new chickens then only get one rooster and be prepared to eat all the males when they get old enough; roosters are territorial and you only want one unless you have a ton of hens and a ton of space. I used to lurk on the backyardchickens.com for info, and I've gotten baby chicks from local feedstores and from mypetchicken.com. If you have any specific questions I can try to answer, and if you do end up with chickens it'd be cool if you shared how it's going.

I had chooks. Built my own coop at one stage too. What kind of advice are you looking for?

I will say that we never ate ours. I think you'd probably have to look into raising for slaughter. There are guidelines on what you can give them to eat and what medicated products you can use on them prior to killing them. I will also say that they won't be the size you're used to eating. Commercial slaughter operations grow their chickens like little sumo wrestlers.

I know a guy who keeps chickens for both eggs and meat, but he raises two different types - the egg hens are not the same variety as the meat birds - and I think he keeps them in separate coops.
