TBH, OP I think there's a good chance that as much as they share, there's many more points that they haven't shared yet and by the time both your books are finished and published they're going to be so far apart that even the BNF won't know and your brilliant plan will all be for naught.

Congrats on finishing a book, tho I guess.

Yup. A lot of books go through drastic changes from drafting to publishing. Sometimes having entire arcs and characters written out and replaced.
