Re: Who was your favorite teacher in school? Why?

Favourite: My secondary school Irish/Geography teacher, because she ran the single most stable class in the entire school. You knew exactly what was coming every lesson, if you kept up the work you were absolutely fine, she could break ideas down into their simplest parts, and while she was amazingly strict she was fair. You literally always knew what you would get in her classroom. It was amazingly reassuring. Geography was my favourite subject in school, and while I never had any particular talent for Irish my results in her class were always a dead solid B, every time. Every test, all the way through to the end of school. She was the single most consistent teacher I ever had.

Least Favourite: I had a string of difficult German teachers in first and second year of secondary school. I swear, German was our school's DADA class. One of our teachers was increasingly erratic and forgetful, sometimes literally forgetting an entire week's worth of work. We later found out that she had a brain tumour, which was ... it was absolutely not her fault and we all felt amazingly terrible for dreading her class after learning that. Then her replacement was one of those teachers who had a habit of looming over your desk staring down at your work while you were trying to do a test, which did not in any way help with anyone's nerves.

One of my English teachers also called me a 'demanding little pipsqueak' once, but in hindsight I pretty much deserved it.
