Re: What are you a judgy bitch over?

When I worked retail there was a couple who came in one night who were super nice to me...but the moment their kids called they started cussing up a storm to them on the phone. And they weren't exactly speaking softly, either. Thankfully they were the only customers in the store at the moment, but...yeah. It was really jarring.

And parents who let their children run and climb over everything in a store and can only come up with a half-hearted, "Hey...stop...don't do that, please" plea drive me nuts. They're not listening to you 'cause you're not firm enough. Go over there, pick your child up/usher them away from whatever they're getting into, and tell them if they don't stop messing with everything, you'll take them out of the store and go home.

And if they don't do that, and the employee winds up being the one to yell at the kids to stop and shoos them away, don't glare at said employee and make them seem like evil people who were "mean" to your precious kids.

(Also, don't dump your kids at a store while you're off doing whatever else for hours on end. The employees have stuff to do, it's not their responsibility to babysit your children for you.)

This times a thousand.

I used to work at a Borders that was in the same shopping center as the Costco. Kids were left unattended all the freaking time. Once, some parents left their kids there when they went to see a movie and didn't check to see what time our store closed, so the closing crew had to deal with a kid. (The manager was about 30 seconds from calling the cops to report an abandoned kid, when the parents showed up.)

Oh, lord, that's ridiculous.

I worked at our local mall, and we were required to notify mall security if it'd been x amount of time and kids were still wandering around with no parents in sight. I just do not get how parents think it's okay to do that.

(And then those parents are often the exact same ones who, if their kid winds up getting hurt or something at the store, will be the first ones to complain to the store and rant about suing them or whatever.)

THIS, and follow through with that threat. Yes, it's inconvenient. Kids are inconvenient.

Also, don't dump your kids at a store while you're off doing whatever else for hours on end. The employees have stuff to do, it's not their responsibility to babysit your children for you.

Holy SHIT. People who do this shouldn't have kids. I'm 100% behind employees who call the cops to report an abandoned kid when parents pull this shit.
