Go over there, pick your child up/usher them away from whatever they're getting into, and tell them if they don't stop messing with everything, you'll take them out of the store and go home.

THIS, and follow through with that threat. Yes, it's inconvenient. Kids are inconvenient.

Also, don't dump your kids at a store while you're off doing whatever else for hours on end. The employees have stuff to do, it's not their responsibility to babysit your children for you.

Holy SHIT. People who do this shouldn't have kids. I'm 100% behind employees who call the cops to report an abandoned kid when parents pull this shit.
