i'm just surprised that this show even managed to generate much of a fandom tbh, i mean it's a fun cartoon but not something i'd consider to be very shippy at all really.

This. With the way the fandom talks about it, you'd think the show had Yuri On Ice levels of gay. But no, the show has absolutely zero homoerotic undertones. It doesn't even have romantic implications, gay or straight, period. It's bizarre.

Hunk/Shay had romantic undertones.

ayrt.

right?

as the anon above me said hunk/shay is kind of the only thing that remotely pinged with romantic undertones so far, everything else just feels like a friends/found-family dynamic.

they could certainly build up into some relationships as the show goes on but right now it's really barren on the shipping front, at least to me anyway.

Shiro is, like, turbo attractive to me. I was there from the first episode, and since it didn't suck, well...

Replace Shiro with any of the other characters, and you have your answer. Voltron fandom is very much about the One True Character, and the ship wars mostly come from Lance fans (Klance, or Keith/Lance people) hating the fact that Shiro is pretty popular, and that his most popular pairing breaks up fandom-juggernaut Klance (Sheith, or Shiro/Keith.) It's very much shipwar bullshit, and don't let anyone try and tell you otherwise.

Lance's fanbase seems to be comprised of underage tumblr fangirls, which would explain why they're just about the most obnoxious and toxic group of people ever.
