I honestly doubt that "Tumblr likes it" has any direct causation to people disliking the ship.

There might be a correlation in that if Tumblr likes it then there's a way bigger fandom and many more chances for there to be assholes due to sheer numbers and activity in a juggernaut ship... but don't confuse causation and correlation.

I'm not even in the Voltron fandom, but Klance and its shippers sound like complete cancer. I mean, when they're harassing voice actors, making endless call out posts targeting Sheith shippers, accusing them of being pedophiles, sending them actual child porn, and wishing death on a character so his VA (who apparently supported their NOTP at some point?) will be out of a job and won't show up at comic Con, that's just SU fandom tier wankery.

I don't mind Klance. I hope animation gets to be progressive in addressing LGBTQ+, since it worked wonders for Steven Universe and Yuri on Ice (the latter is "wow", considering Japan's stance on LGBTQ+ rights in general).

What happened with "Dirty Laundry"? I remember seeing snippets of it and finding it hilariously tumblr-y and painful in the way that it seemed as if Lance and Keith had been replaced with ultra-tumblr-approved!Lance(besides there being some casual "hot Latinx man speaks teh random Spanish because it's haaawwwwt" racism/stereotyping/whatever you wanna call it if I'm not misremembering and that was another fic)and ultra-tumblr-approved!Keith and their relationship was portrayed like a literal tumblr "consent awareness PSA" ("I'm going to kiss you now, is that okay?" "My lips are moving 15 degrees closer to yours, is that still okay?" "Our lips are about to make contact, please sign this written consent form agreement before the collision.")...

...But I don't remember hearing much if any actual fandom drama about it.

And as a side note, lmfao you must be wearing blinders if you don't see them. It's literally impossible to ship Shiro/any-Paladin-but-mostly-Keith without their shit clogging up the relationship tag and getting "anti" spam in your inbox.

How else would you sum up their relationship? Lance still pretty much has an immature grudge against Keith, and Keith is kind of baffled and/or annoyed by it. They had one friendly "Moment" that got completely subverted by Lance continuing to be a brat towards Keith after that.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm honestly curious how else one would sum up the relationship those two have.

Shiro is, like, turbo attractive to me. I was there from the first episode, and since it didn't suck, well...

Replace Shiro with any of the other characters, and you have your answer. Voltron fandom is very much about the One True Character, and the ship wars mostly come from Lance fans (Klance, or Keith/Lance people) hating the fact that Shiro is pretty popular, and that his most popular pairing breaks up fandom-juggernaut Klance (Sheith, or Shiro/Keith.) It's very much shipwar bullshit, and don't let anyone try and tell you otherwise.
