This is kind of the issue with Disney taking a modern approach to fairy tales, you have to consider in the originals when they were written, what period they are supposed to be about, and what their original intended meaning is.

Like I don't mind different interpretations of fairy tales but sometimes you can't go too far into what Disney meant when they probably aren't even sure themselves.
